Things that make you say hmm
As I was pondering my life one dark frost bitten night, I noticed that the longer I lie here in the nebulous cave that is my room, my eyes adjusted to the light like us to the world. We have become so self absorbed and have thrived on sin for so long that we have begun to adjust as if we have done nothing wrong. When is the last time you shuttered and gasped at the brusque utterance of a curse word(s) that are littered across television or cringed at the thought of murder. We are adjusting to the darkness just as I sit here, eyes darting around a room once endlessly infinite with incomprehensible shapes now clear. It is depressing that, while I'm confined to this cave, there are multitudes of people willing and wanting to commit atrocities. Although, it is not hopeless. It is my wish that we may be able to correct and fix the cracks in the concrete that has held American society intact for so many years. Time is needed for this to come about, as I pray for those who refuse to even stand for the pledge. Remember, we are the future and the craftsmen who can shape the morality of the next generation.

Wow, some deep thoughts, and very creatively written. I've thought about that at times myself.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's kinda sad... but there has always been immorality in the world and it will always be like that... we are actually a fair bit better than the rest of the world and history. I mean, for thousands of years, people watch animals kill each other, people kill each other, people get executed, et cetera, et cetera... like I said, it has always been and will always be that way.

ReplyDeleteThank all of you for commenting. Glad to know that i am not the only one who thinks about this. Matthew you cannot say that the decline of the morality of the American people is not leading us to this end, however we know what happened before so we can avoid these endings.

ReplyDeleteIt is awful that we feel so comfortable thinking and speaking about things like murder and suicide, and that most people have no problem cursing. The fact is, we have to. There are not enough people willing to change. There are not enough people willing to take a step back and really look at their own humanity. Bad things happen all the time. They always have, they always will. People have this outlook that they can't change anything, so they don't even bother. If everyone could get themselves out of this mindset, we could make this world a lot better, I believe. We'll never convince everyone, unfortunately. We're like children. If we aren't taught to react in a negative way to things that call for negativity, we won't even bother to react at all. We've gone so long being comfortable with death and the other horrible realities, that we'll probably never get out of it. Think about it, though. Even cheerleading, which is meant to be something of inspiration, something to bring joy, is just a little bit dark. (No offense to any cheerleaders reading this.) They cheer for the failure of the other team, just as much as they do for the victory of their own. But I suppose anything could be manipulated and made negative.
Anyway, I really enjoyed reading this entry, Clay. It's very well written. I'm impressed.
